Motherhood - "The Journey"

Motherhood is a story worth telling—in every raw, quiet, messy, and magical detail. I specialize in capturing the real moments of motherhood, from pregnancy and birth to the everyday rhythms of parenting. My work blends a documentary approach with a fine art perspective, offering honest imagery that feels both timeless and deeply personal. This is not just about posing—it's about presence, connection, and the beauty of what’s real.

"I wanted to share my wonderful experience working with Jessica. She was truly a dream to work with, and my kids including my husband (who isn't photogenic) had so much fun during the session. What stood out was Jessica's ability to create a relaxed atmosphere. There was no awkward posing or staged feeling; instead, it felt like genuine quality family time. Her professionalism, creativity, and keen attention to detail were evident throughout the entire process. The photos themselves were absolutely stunning, capturing out family baking a cake in such a beautiful and authentic way that I couldn't pick a single favorite. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for an exceptional photographer."

Every Family Has a Story — Let’s Tell Yours

Family life is beautiful, but it is rarely still.

It is full of movement, noise, personality, and all the little in-between moments that make up your real life. A lot of moms put off family photos because they are worried it will feel stressful, their kids will not behave, or everyone will end up frustrated before the session even starts.

I want you to know it does not have to be that way.

You do not need children who sit still, smile on command, or behave perfectly. You do not need a husband who loves taking pictures. You do not need to come in hoping for perfection. My sessions are built around connection, play, movement, and the real love your family already has. I guide you in a way that keeps things natural and gives your family room to breathe, interact, and just be together.

The goal is not to create a version of your family that feels polished but distant. The goal is to create photographs that feel like you. The way your child reaches for your hand. The way your baby buries their face into your shoulder. The laughter, the tenderness, the chaos you will one day miss.

As a mother, you are so often the one making the memories happen while staying out of them. This is your chance to step into the frame and be seen in the love you pour into your family every single day.

*The Beginning of Something Beautiful*

I don’t take on every session or every story, not because I don’t want to, but because I believe in giving each family the care, time, and heart they truly deserve.

This form is more than just a step in the process, it’s an invitation.

A way for you to pause, reflect, and share what matters most.

A way for me to listen, really listen, before we begin.

If you’re here, you’re not just booking a service.

You’re choosing to be seen. Held. Remembered.

And I’m so honored to be considered for that kind of work.

FAQ

How long does a Family Session take?

This is subjective. Most family photographers will need anywhere from 45-60min of shooting time. This highly depends on whether you are doing a posed session or lifestyle session.

How often should we get family photos done?

Most of my clients like to mark each milestone and each holiday. My typical client gets birthday photos done for their children and family photos done during the holidays. Some even hire for vacation photos to capture the memories during the family adventure.

What are the best ages to photograph my infant?

There are definitely some milestones during the first year that are super fun to capture. Those are usually 6-9 months and of course their first birthday session. My favorite ages are 6, 9 and 12 months old as they are the most interactive and changing so much at these stages.

When should you do Cake Smash photos?

Cake smash sessions are usually done for the first birthday, you only turn one ONCE and its the very first of many birthdays to come so we like to go BIG! If you'd like to have these images back in time to use them at the birthday party or for invitations you should do them at 11 months.

What Is a Documentary Session?

A documentary session is about rawness. Unlike traditional portrait sessions that focus on perfect smiles, documentary photography feels unscripted, honest, and rooted in connection.

There’s no pressure to perform—just be present. I’ll guide when needed, but mostly, I’m there to notice the magic in the in-between moments: the way your child reaches for your hand, the soft light on your baby’s face, the glance between you and your partner when no one else is watching.

It’s real. It’s raw. And when paired with my fine art eye for composition and light, it becomes something timeless: visual poetry of your everyday life.

Can a documentary session be planned or guided?

Yes! While documentary photography is rooted in real moments, that doesn’t mean it has to be completely unplanned. I offer guided documentary sessions—where we plan meaningful activities that reflect your life (like baking cookies, reading books, or playing outside) and I document it the way it unfolds. It’s still unscripted in emotion and connection, but thoughtfully shaped to tell the story you want remembered.

This gives you the best of both worlds: real, emotive moments with a bit of creative intention—plus the comfort of knowing what to expect.

What ages are best for family sessions?

Family storytelling sessions are designed for families of all stages, from babies and toddlers to older children. The focus is on connection, not perfect behavior.

What should we wear for a family session?

Each family session is styled around one coordinated outfit per person to maintain a relaxed, uninterrupted flow. Styling guidance is provided to help you feel confident and prepared.

Are family sessions posed?

Family sessions are guided with prompts rather than rigid posing. This allows children to move, play, and interact naturally while still creating cohesive imagery.

Can we do outfit changes?

To preserve a calm, story-driven experience, sessions include one outfit per person. An additional coordinated look may be added as an optional add on.

Where do family sessions take place?

Family sessions may take place outdoors or in your home, depending on your vision and what feels most authentic to your family.

Do you share pricing in advance?

Yes. Most clients invest between $750-$1150 and full pricing details are shared upon inquiry.
